the end of an era

I went for my annual check up yesterday - and you guessed it - I have to get a filling. No big deal to some people - but to me a totally different kettle of fish. You see I don't have a single filling - and will remain that way for the next 2 weeks until my next visit to the dentist. My so called sister and so called friends have been taunting me for days with horror stories about what to expect. Not nice behaviour !

also as a side note - this blog entry is against me today! I have had nothing but difficult after difficulty - missing photo, resending photo, waiting for photo to arrive...photo doesn't arrive so resend it again...still waiting ...and so it goes on and on

old fashion remedy

AS you would know if you are a regular reader of this blog - I am on a fitness challenge - well at least I think I have mentioned it. This has meant that I have fully amped up my attendance at the gym. I have been going at least 5 times a week - sometimes more. I also have a personal trainer at 6am on Monday mornings. This has meant that sometimes - like today - my muscles are PAIN-IN!! So as I type this i have the bath running and am about to partake of a lovely radox bath. I remember Mum having radox baths - to soak away the troubles of the day. ( The act of MUM having a bath totally deserves an entry of it's own) It was actually difficult to find on the shelves - and I had nearly given up, when the friend I was with it at the time spotted it. Oh what joy! SO without further adieu...

missing in action

I know it has been ages since I last left a post - but for some reason I couldn't seem to find the time or the inclination to blog last week. I have been busy though.

I procured this noticeboard a little while ago ( maybe 4 years)- with the intention of jazzing it up and using it. It has been under the house - gone through several floods, and possibly gotten worse in its general outlook. I took hold of it last weekend - and sanded all of the paint off etc etc. I also made a trip to Spotlight - and well

viola - the finished product

I don't quite know why this picture is so dark - but you get the general idea. It has been spruced up.

is it possible...

to have this many mismatched socks? Is it? I can honestly say that I can never in my life remember taking my socks off and leaving one off, or losing one, or...or..or..

It is inconceivable to me.

Dressing Down

WE all know winter has arrived. The arrival of winter also means the arrival of flannelet sheets, slippers and dressing gowns. I desperately needed a new dressing gown. So accordingly at the shops last weekend we asked dad nicely if he would buy us one. He nicely refused! The audacity!!! He then spent the whole week telling us how warm he was in his dressing gown, that he was getting off the phone to go and put on his dressing gown etc etc. My sister gave him a dressing down and said he better not pull this sort of 'refusing to buy us stuff' stunt when we are on holidays at the end of the year. The upshot - I had to buy my own dressing gown!

BRRRRRRRRRRRRR...

winter is here. I'm off to bed - hope my housemate doesn't have to spend the night on the bathroom floor - it's way too cold tonight for that.

a great new blog

I have recently discovered a great new blog - and you know I like to keep people informed.

check it out

frolicking

The river 'precinct' near my place has recently been done up - it involves walkways along the river a fountain and this great installation of children in togs frolicking. I have always loved this piece - it used to be in the centre of town and they took it away and I was upset because I thought it was great. I think it captures memories of summer when we used to run around in our togs all day. I was very happy when I rediscovered it down at the river.

morning glory

as mentioned previously I have been going to the gym, really early in the morning. My housemate and I get picked up at 5.45. So we wait on the side of the road - and it's dark and cold, and this morning foggy. I am still commited to it.

Cupcake crazy

I know I talk about cupcakes a lot but I really like making them and people apparently like
eating them. I requested this magazine for my birthday - partly because I loved the cover and also because I wanted to see the recipes on the inside. I am a big Martha fan - I tape her show to watch everyday - I think I may have mentioned this before. Anyway the magazine did not disappoint - it has some great recipes that I will be making at some stage in the future. Possibly when I do the afternoon tea I have been promising my Aunty S for a while.

I don;t know why the pic is upside down - must be a system glitch because it wasn't upside down when I started. Go figure?

Team Margie

Yesterday a group of us entered the Mother's Day Classic - walk for Breast cancer research. WE had T-shirts made - and by made I mean my cousin and I slaved on my dining room table like a sweat shop to get 15 of the suckers finished.

Then we had a big family lunch - with some of the gang - and of course I made cupcakes.

Of course nothing could ever actually replace my mum being here with me on Mother's Day - but hey.

gym junkie

I am on a new health kick - AGAIN!!! This time I for real...AGAIN :) Anyway you know how they always say that the gym is somewhere you can pick up. Well what do you think my chances are - when I look like this after a workout...

sans beard of course! But my hair does do crazy fuzzy things and well what else can I say.

a moment in time

I have just arrived home from work - which if you know me and what I do - is particularly late. SO today will be short and sweet. As I was reading in bed the other night this beautiful butterfly landed on my book. Of course I grabbed my camera and took a photo - which was no mean feat as I was laying in bed ...reading...and didn't want to frighten the butterfly away. Can ou work out what I'm reading? CLUE : A very popular series - a name on the page should give it away

i like this

came across a cool site in my afternoon trawling...

http://affremblequotes.tumblr.com/

and i liked this

"Life isn’t divided into genres. It’s a horrifying, romantic, tragic, comical, science-fiction cowboy detective novel. You know, with a bit of pornography if you’re lucky."
Alan Moore

on the border

We have been holidaying at this spot for literally decades and I have never had my photo taken - so on a recent day trip to the area I MADE my sister snap a photo. Getting blog photos can be a hazard especially when family members are sick of taking them. SO a big thanks to Jojo for sometimes being patient and taking photos of me that I cannot take myself.

red velvet

Yesterday I had adventures with my Aunty Shirl - for two Sundays in a row we have ventured around the big city. Yesterday we started at Paddington, and ended up in the Valley, where we discovered a new cupcake shop. I am a cupcake connoisseur- I make great cupcakes - well people tell me they are good - and so I am always on the hunt to find the perfect bought cupcake. I think we may have found them. The shop was called poppycakes and is at the Emporium. I had the red velvet cupcake because I see it on American TV shows all of the time and have always wanted to try - it did not disappoint.
