making a list

It can no longer be avoided - it's that time of the year when I have to make my Christmas list. This has been a tradition in our family for a long time. I think it may have started because when you get to a certain age it's hard for your mum and dad to know what to get you - so I think it started because Mum wanted to know what we actually wanted. ( which is of course the true spirit of Christmas! getting what you want) In the past I have been super organised and divided my list into different categories - just to make it easier for the shopper ( I'm thoughtful like that) One year Mum bought my sister and I every single thing we had on our list - which was great but definitely not expected. (and I'm sure Dad didn't realise) You can always go a bit crazy and put things down that you know you won't get - my sister always used to put in hers a new car - and well she has one of those this year so that is unnecessary. I am having trouble compiling my list this year - because well I have bought myself every single thing I have desired as the year has gone along - and my bank balance is definitely a little sadder for that amount of retail therapy. This year will be different as I'm almost 90 per cent positive that Dad won't go crazy on the list and buy us everything ( although I do still hold out a 10% dream) - in fact we discussed Christmas with dad on the weekend - and I'm almost 100% positive that he had no idea just who mum bought presents for.

Today's photo is one from Christmas 2006 - and I think it

is a really nice photo.

That really is a lovely precious photo and I bet it (or something similar) will be on the table at Xmas lunch.
Knowing how much your Mum meant (and means) to you I think it will be a funny old Xmas...but I know you'll soldier on.
