Jacs can look a little stringy when they are not flowering, so I think I get where your sister is coming from.
I think I heard on a gardening show that jacs are native to south america, would ya believe ?
Your sister thinks Jack is ugly ?
I think most large trees that lose their leaves are unsightly but ugly may be a bit harsh.
