Museum fun

On Sunday I went to the travel expo with my dad as we are planning an overseas holiday. the travel expo was packed so we picked up lots of pamphlets and then hightailed it over to the State Library because there is a really nice coffee shop there that I have had nice cake at in the past ( seriously I remember good cake - remind me another time to let you know about my pet peeves with cake !) So we go there for lunch - and dad is really funny whenever there is 'fancy schmancy' stuff on the menu he always says "I'll just have a toasted ham cheese and tomato sandwich" (remember our trip to Byron bay where he still to this day thinks his coffee was spiked! ) On the way back from our lunch, dad says he has never been to the art gallery or the museum in its 'new' location. I'm pretty sure the 'new' museum has been there for a gazillion years. So we went in - it was interesting in a museum kind of way - but the thing that rally grosses me out is all of the samples - you know the snakes in jars, the different size rats etc. GROSS! We had fun anyway and I suppose dad can now say he has been to the 'new' museum.

Oh and also they didn't have the really nice cake I was wanting - bummer.

another weekender

has been and gone. They seem to fly by so quickly. I had quite an action packed weekend. I had the hairdresser followed by dinner and drinks on Friday night, on Saturday we had my cousin's wedding and yesterday I went to the travel expo with my dad. So lots happening and lots of photo opportunities really. All of this meant that of course I did not sleep properly last night, woke up at 2am couldn't go back to sleep which then meant that I was late-ish for work, which then has meant that I don't want to go to the gym tonight - and well any excuse I say.

Layers were my friend at the hairdresser although obviously I didn't go with a fringe. I am loving how glossy my hair looks in this photo - and obviously this bee hive do isn't something I would wear everyday (I felt I had a little of the Sarah Palins about me ) - but I did love it all the same - I also loved it when I woke up on Saturday morning and could with a few small tweaks wear it as my wedding hair...yeah. My sister's hair also looked fab I thought ( but hers usually does) no hair envy on my part - well maybe just a little.

Thursdays with dad...

We have started a new family 'thing'. We are going to Dad's for dinner every Thursday night. I kind of like having a routine weekly meal with your folks. Of course we always do Saturday lunch and we always used to do Monday night dinner at Mum and Dad's - but that stopped a few years ago when for some strange reason mum changed her work roster - seriously she had had the same roster for about 10 years then it just changed. So just last week we decided to do Thursday night dinner. Dad went into a bit of a panic over what he was going to cook - but last week was a total success - he cooked my favourite - apricot chicken - and he did it really well. This is the meal I request every single birthday dinner. He also had said to me that he was organising to get Jo's favourite dessert - Sara Lee Danish ! Tonight he is whipping up chicken kiev's - or chicken kevs as we call them. Not sure about dessert though - he hasn't given it away. Needless to say I am looking forward to an evening spent with my dad :)

PS This photo was taken on a family trip to Sydney - January 08 - if you blow the photo up mum and dad look kinda cranky - I'm pretty sure they weren't :)

nothing much

happening in my world today at all. Nothing witty to report. Nothing made me cranky ( that is actually a bit of a fib - but since it happened at 8.30 this morning I will let it slide) I did mix things up today by taking my daily photo his morning before I left for work - and well there is a noticeable difference in that I don;t look all disheveled and fuzzy like I do right now. I am in desperate need of a haircut and am going to do something about on Friday afternoon. DO you really want to know that I feel like my hair is in a phase of HUMPH...I have been discussing this with my sister just this afternoon and I'm thinking I'm going to go for a lot of layers to give it some shape and a nice rich chocolatey brown colour. Did you want to know all of that? Did you???

IMPORTANCE HIGH!!!!!

This is seriously a very important issue to me - it involves toilet paper! It simply does my head in when the toilet paper is not on the roller with the paper coming from the top. My housemate is oh so nonchalant about this (in that I don't think it bothers her one way or another) - but as I said it does me head in :( See there is a reason for putting the toilet paper on the roll and it is simply so that when you go to the toilet in the middle of the night with no lights on - you can always find the toilet paper end - you don"t have to spin it aimlessly for ages and then realise that there is a whole heap of toilet paper on the floor. Now just in case my housemate reads this - it is by no way an indictment on them ( well maybe just a little :) ) has anyone ever noticed the toilet paper thing before and do you get annoyed by it? Please let me know that i don"t live in a little toilet paper worry world by myself...

computer arrrggghhh...

what is with this program not letting me upload a picture today? last time I was on it wouldn't spell check - which is something I seriously need because of my typing ( and whoops I have accidentally activated the italics)...weekend went by in a blur as usual - another week at work awaiting - as usual. I did get a super bargain at the shops - 2 dresses for 80 - yes 80 - dollars. I love it when I happen to be looking for something at Myer and it is the day it is a further 50 percent off sale items. I have a busy few weeks coming up - wedding, weekend away, another wedding and weekend away - have i mentioned how I am saving for a big trip at the end of the year - it doesn't sound like it does it? Anyway surely the dresses will feature in the blog over the next few weeks - and maybe just maybe I'll be able to upload a picture of them...

Go Fug yourself

because ugly is the new pretty - is my new favourite read every day website - not sure if it's a blog? I guess it is. The writing is funny and it's great to see pics of celebs in all their glory.

Check it out...

I went through a stage where I could spend hours just looking at stuff on this website and adding it to my favourites. It really did annoy my housemate no end. I finally bought something - some stationery and it has somewhat cured my browsing habit. ( I did want to buy some bird earrings - I am obssessed with birds at the moment - I love them in earrings, in prints..etc etc but resisted the urge)

Even though it is the weekend I am contmeplating heading in to my bedroom and finishing the work on my new walk in wardrobe - the couch could call out to me on the way past though.

have a good weekend

sorry about any typos - the spell check isn't working - and well it's Friday I've been checking spelling all week

scissor sisters

This morning I was dressed and ready for work and then I thought " mmmmmm this top I'm wearing feels very hot", so with barely 2 minutes til departure time I decided to cut the lining out of the top - which seemed easy at first but then really wasn't something that should be rushed. My housemate and I were in fits of giggles at the absolute ridiculousness of the whole thing. But let me just say that I was a lot cooler today sans polyester lining ( what is with that anyway) Of course I used 'the good green scissors" which have been in our family for a gazillion years - we actually stole them from mum and dads a few years ago and I don't think we have been forgiven as every time dad sees them he says something along the lines of " oh the good green scissors I've been wandering where they are".

for the faithful

I'm back :)
I have been putting my feet up for what seems to some months and months but has actually only been a few weeks. My plan was to end the blog however there have been many occasions in the last few weeks where I have thought "Oh I should blog that" so henceforth I am back. A lot has been happening but I really shouldn't give too much away all in one sitting should I...
talk to you tomorrow...
